Walkers Flavours

Ready Salted

A hit for over 60 years. The key to the success of our Ready Salted crisps is their classic simplicity - tasty potatoes, done to a turn with a pinch of salt to bring out the flavour. However, the satisfying taste does cause one little problem – if anyone’s around when you open a bag, be prepared to share!

Steak & Onion

In the 15th century the guards at the Tower of London became known as the Beefeaters, mainly because their rations included massive amounts of meat. Eating up to a pound of meat at every meal, the Beefeaters’ heroic consumption of steak became a defining characteristic of the British appetite, leading us to create our popular ‘Steak ‘n’ Onion’ flavour crisps.

Smoky Bacon

Sizzling smoked bacon – as soon as you smell it, your taste buds start tingling! There’s something about that smoky taste that’s almost irresistible. Maybe it harks back to our primitive hunter-gatherer past when all food was cooked over fires? Fortunately these days you don’t have to hunt too hard - just reach for a bag of Smoky Bacon for instant satisfaction.

Roast Chicken

The French may call us Brits ‘les rosbifs’, but roast chicken is just as popular for Sunday lunch in Britain. That’s why we created this flavour to celebrate such a firm family favourite. So now you don’t have to wait for the weekend to get a tasty roast. Tuck in any time.

Prawn Cocktail

The mysterious ‘Prawn Cocktail’ dish started appearing on every hotel restaurant menu in Britain in the 1960s. And it’s still the starter most Brits are likely to choose when going out to a posh restaurant! So if you want a crisp with a bit of class (not to mention retro appeal) then look no further.

Pickled Onion

Mention pickled onions and some very British images come to mind. The traditional ploughman’s lunch… Huge jars of onions in the local chippy… The W.I. making pickled onions for fetes… Yes, pickled onions are as British as the white cliffs of Dover, so if you want a little taste of Britain in a jar, you know what to reach for!

Tomato Ketchup

Ketchup first came to Britain when 17th-Century Dutch and English sailors brought home a spicy fish sauce from Asia. The Brits varied the mix to make mushroom ketchup but in America, they decided to try tomatoes. It was a good move! Now tomato ketchup is popular all over the world – whether it’s in a bottle or one of our bags.

Cheese & Onion

Despite sounding wonderfully rustic, the ploughman's lunch of cheese, onion salad and bread is actually a 20th century invention. The English Country Cheese Council created the nostalgic name as a marketing ploy. It worked – the Ploughman's Lunch is now a pub favourite and, for some people, Cheese & Onion is the ultimate flavour combo!

BBQ Rib

There’s something very British about barbecues. Our summers don’t exactly lend themselves to outdoor grilling but perhaps it’s that sense of hope that the rain will hold off together with a touch of holiday spirit that keeps us going. We hover round in back gardens, united under umbrellas and the smell of char-grilling fills the air…

Salt & Vinegar

Ahhh… The smell of fish and chips with plenty of salt and vinegar is undoubtedly a Great British institution. In ‘Oliver Twist’ Charles Dickens mentions a fried fish warehouse and it was in the 19th century, during the industrial revolution that this combination really took off. Nowadays you’ll find a fish and chip shop in almost any British seaside resort!

Worcester Sauce

Worcester Sauce is a classic taste of Britain. Legend has it that the recipe was brought back from India by the ex-Governor of Bengal, who gave it to two local chemists, John Lea and William Perrins. It tasted disgusting. However, after being left to ferment, it matured into an interesting spicy condiment. In 1838, Worcestershire Sauce was launched.

Walkers Light's Flavours

Simply Salted

A lighter way to enjoy the classic simplicity of tasty potatoes, done to a turn with a pinch of salt to bring out the flavour. The result is a light crunch and 33% less fat than ordinary crisps.

Sour Cream & Chive

For many years the combination of sour cream and chives was used as a popular dip for crisps. The only snag was it was too easy to drip on your carpet. Fortunately, someone had the inspiration to do away with the dip and put the flavour straight onto Walkers Light crisps - a deliciously light way to keep your carpet spotless!

Cheese & Onion

Despite sounding wonderfully rustic, the ploughman's lunch of cheese, onion salad and bread is actually a 20th century invention. The English Country Cheese Council created the nostalgic name as a marketing ploy. It worked – the Ploughman's Lunch is now a pub favourite and with Walkers Lights you can enjoy the great flavour combo of Cheese & Onion with a lighter crunch!

In ‘Oliver Twist’ Charles Dickens mentions a fried fish warehouse and it was in the 19th century, during the industrial revolution that this combination really took off.
