This year we are is recognising Britain’s Home Grown Talent as the proud sponsors of ‘Britain’s Best 2008’. This star studded awards show will be aired on ITV1 on 23rd May 2008. In its second year, ‘Britain’s Best 2008’ (previously Greatest Britons 2007) is a unique event honouring Britons who have achieved the highest level of international acclaim in their chosen field.

The nominees for the prestigious Walkers Home Grown Talent Award include:



  • Hollie Avil
    Aged 17 Hollie is previously a competitive swimmer and runner, but in 2005 decided to go for a new challenge and began competing in Triathlon.  As well as the World and European junior triathlon titles, Hollie is ranked 27th in Europe for the junior women's 3000m and further glory came her way with a nomination for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2007. Hollie is currently hotly tipped to claim a place to represent Great Britain at the Beijing Olympics this year
  • Brandon Lawrence
    Brandon, aged 15, is a ballet dancer from Bradford with the potential to become a real star in the dance world.  A recent recipient of the acclaimed Working Title Billy Elliot Award at this year’s National Dance Awards, Brandon was also awarded scholarships from the British Ballet Organisation and the Yorkshire Ballet Seminars to become a pupil at the Royal Ballet School in London
  • Tom Daley
    Aged 14 and from Plymouth, Tom started diving at the age of seven and was an age-group British champion in all diving events by the age of ten.  Today, Tom holds the British senior men's national platform title.  He became the youngest ever male medallist in a world diving event and has qualified for the Beijing Olympics, where he will become the second youngest British Olympian of all time
  • Nicholas Hoult
    Nicolas, aged 18, has worked in film, television and theatre since the age of eight.  His major breakthrough came playing Marcus in the film About A Boy opposite Hugh Grant.  Nicholas is now more well known for his current role playing Tony Stonem in Skins, a British TV series which depicts teens in a more realistic style.  Skins has seen a tremendous success and a loyal cult following.

  • Fraser Doherty
    At just 19, Edinburgh born Fraser began jam-making aged 14 after selling homemade preserves locally. Awarded the Enterprising Young Brit Award at the age of 15, Fraser’s naturally sweetened SuperJam has already hit sales of £350,000 and is expected to double that in 2008



There are seven categories featuring on the night which cover: Music, The Arts, Sport, Film, Television, Business and Campaigner, plus two extra special awards; the Outstanding Global Achievement Award (in association with The Sun) and The Walkers Home Grown Talent Award. Making its debut this year, and the only accolade on the show which is open to a public online vote, is the Walkers Home Grown Talent Award. We are thrilled to be supporting the award which has been created to recognise and celebrate exceptional, high achieving young Britons that are doing the nation proud.
